My Style Sucks, Help……
Announcing my 2019 Charlotte Masterclass
We’ll be covering (1) - Finding your “STYLE”
Hold on, your style does not suck, it’s only because your style isn’t and never will be determined by the preset camp you belong to, light and airy, dark and moody are not styles, they’re post-processing looks.
The vast majority of wedding and portrait photographers only stay in business for around 3 - 4 years when all their friends are married, their friend’s kids hit 4 or until their “style” is no longer fashionable, whichever comes first.
Back in the previous century it was de rigueur for American, writers and artists to spend a season living in Paris, imbuing themselves with the avant-garde spillover from that wonderful city.
These days that’s virtually impossible for most, so the next best thing is to engage the world right where you are.
I would argue that your style of shooting comes from a much deeper place, your style should be a reflection of who you are, how and where you grew up, life’s experiences and how you view the world. For a long, happy, healthy and prosperous photo life you must build your foundation on the rock of authenticity. Once you find that place I guarantee, combined with a little business common sense and some hard work things will happen.
